Disa
Designs is the international pattern brand name for
a company in Iceland called Föndur.is which was
established in May of 2004.
The
designer Asdis Erla Gudjonsdottir (Disa) along with
her husband Solvi Rafn Rafnsson opened an online store
on the web site: www.fondur.is
The pattern sales took off on the web site and as
a result quilting and craft stores in Iceland started
ordering patterns and now they are available in stores
across the country.
Disa
used to work as an art teacher before she established
Disa Designs. She has been designing since 1998 and
has now published more than 70 patterns; quilting,
craft and woodwork that are available in Icelandic.
In her spare time she loves to draw and paint but
running is also a favorite.
In
the spring of 2005 10 patterns were translated and
published in the USA, debuted at the Spring Quilt
Market in Kansas City. Another 5 patterns were published
in the Fall Quilt Market in Houston 2005, another
4 patterns in the Spring Quilt Market in Minneapolis
2006 and 5 patterns were published on the Fall Quilt
Market in Houston 2006. Spring 2007 Disa published
her first book "My Season" and two new patterns.
